So The Rock is Playing Which DC Character?!

The-Rock-wwe-champion-hd-wallpapers.jpgFor months now Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been teasing fans the world over of his involvement in the DC Cinematic Universe and now we may finally be closer to finding out just who he might be playing!

Although earlier this year the rumors began to fly that perhaps The Rock would be playing John Stewart, one of the other Green Lanterns, and would be joining the cast of the jam packed Batman v Superman and ultimately be a part of the Justice League movie, but that does not seem to be the case after hearing Johnson’s recent comments.

In a recent interview with Total Film,  Johnson hints that Shazam , a movie already heavily rumored, just might be his chosen superhero  and we could have an announcement at this weeks San Diego Comic-Con!

But don’t take my word for it..read what the Brama Bull had to say…

“I will say this. There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon that I’m going to play, and I’ll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Power of Superman? Shazam it is then

Marvel Just Added Dates to Your Day Planner Through 2019!

Marvel Studios

Marvel is sure pulling out all the stops a few days ahead of San Diego Comic Con. Today they announce that their cinematic universe will be expanding even further with the announcement of five new release dates which will help Marvel continue to dominate box office numbers through 2019

The studio already had three unscheduled release dates for films confirmed: July 8, 2016 (Doctor Strange?) which will follow Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016 and then another on May 5, 2017. If that wasn’t enough, now they’ve reserved July 28, 2017 as well as November 3, 2017, July 6, 2018, November 2, 2018 and May 3, 2019! Holy guacamole!

Now nothing about which properties has been confirmed, but I’m fairly certain that’s going to change after next week’s Marvel presentation at Comic-Con! I’ll be on site at next week’s San Diego Comic Con live tweeting all the great news. Make sure to follow #RNDSDCC to keep up!

EW’s First Look at Avengers: Age of Ultron!

Ultron

Entertainment Weekly’s newest edition , features a first look at Iron Man and Captain America as well as the film’s villain Ultron! The story goes on to give some insight into what we can expect from the film’s direction. After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was shaken to its core with S.H.I.E.L.D. being disbanded and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes status as a group is left in question.  Tony Stark has taken it upon himself to search for a way to secure the Earth without the need to put back on the Iron Man suit and give the rest of the team a break.  His solution is Ultron, self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark’s Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead.

Great plan….except Ultron is not capable of human emotion and his superior intellect quickly determines that human beings are the problem and its time for them to go!

“Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’” Whedon says, rubbing his hands together.

“He’s on a mission,” the filmmaker adds, and smiles thinly. “He wants to save us.”

The article goes on to explain Ultron’s intentions and why he will be so unstoppable!

EW have also released the first official stills from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Does Sebastian Stan Want to be Captain America???

Image

I had a chance to sit in on the Q&A panel for Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con this weekend. After a slew of questions regarding the two actors performances in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Stan was asked if he would like to take over Captain America’s shield one day, and after a tiny hesitation, he answered with certainty…

“Yes,” said Stan. “Yeah, I’ll do it right now. Look, it’s not up to me. I’m just showing up when they’re calling me. I means that’s it. But I wouldn’t mind a little Black Widow/Winter Soldier story happening.”

Of course a certain actor names Chris Evans might have something to say about that Sebastian…but we’ll have to wait and see

Captain America 3 hits theaters on May 6, 2016

Has Ant-Man’s Foe Been Revealed?!

Image

Our friends over at JoBlo have come across a bit of news regarding Marvel’s Ant-Man that I found pretty interesting.

The site mentions that the main villain will be Darren Cross, a foe of Ant-Man Scott Lang. Cross is also the head of Cross Technological Enterprises, a direct competitor of Stark Industries and Oscorp in the comics. The report goes on to mention that instead of the Hulk like appearance Cross had in the comics, he will wear an outfit similar to Lang’s with more of a military flavor. Yellow and Black will be the colors of his suit with a tendril-looking apparatus coming off it’s back (like with Agent Venom).

Darren Cross is also the cousin, William Cross who becomes the Marvel villain Crossfire, a CIA agent with a bad attitude and a super cool cybernetic eye.

No word on who will play the villains as of yet, but The Wrap’s own Jeff Sneider is reporting  that House of Card’s Cory Stoll will be soon cast in the role of Darren Cross and Insidious’s Patrick Wilson will be cast as his cousin.

Keep checking back for more information on these rumors

ANT-MAN opens on July 17, 2015

We have to wait HOW LONG for a new solo Batman movie????

Image

Last week we broke the news of a rumor about the DC Cinematic Universe Lineup of movies slated until 2018, now according to Latino-Review Warner Bros and DC may have one more film on the horizon. The report states that a new solo Batman movie starring Ben Affleck called simply “The Batman” is coming in 2019! Yes…I said 2019.

Makes perfect sense considering the packed lineup WB/DC has on their plates including Batman v Superman, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Sandman, Shazam! and the Flash / Green Lantern team-up movie coming between 2016 and 2018.

So sound off! Is 2019 too late for a new Batman movie or do you want to see how Batfleck does before WANTING a solo Batman pic?

Warner Bros and DC have found their King of the Seven Seas and its…

According to Variety and HitFix, Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa has signed on to play Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Momoa has been long rumored for the role but in the recent months, when asked, Momoa has adamantly denied the reports. The film, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, has been the center of a news frenzy in recent months as the list of A-list comic book superheros continues to be added to the film. The star studded ensemble also include Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Flash and Green Lantern are also widely rumored but no casting is available at this time.

The cast also include Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor as well as the returning supporting cast of Man of Steel consisting of Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to open in theaters May 6, 2016

What do you think of the casting? Sound off!

Well kiss my kryptonite!

San Diego Comic Con is shaping up to be the best year yet! After announcing at last years SDCC that Batman vs Superman would be the next installment into the DC Cinematic Universe, the rumors began to swirl with the addition with each cast member announcement that BvS would ultimately lead into a Justice League movie. Ultimately, this was confirmed by Warner Bros with the announcement that Zack Snyder would direct the film with a May 2017 target opening.

Today word comes from newly launched blog NikkiFinke.com that, actually, DC has even bigger plans in mind and that at this years biggest entertainment event, Warner Bros will announce their plans for the DC Universe through 2018! But I got cha covered TODAY..cause I look out for you..you know I do!

The following films are RUMORED to be the lineup that will be announced

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice May 6, 2016

Shazam! July 2016

Sandman starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt December 2016

Zack Snyder’s Justice League May 2017

Wonder Woman July 2017

Finke also notes that Justice League members appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice include not only the confirmed Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg but also Flash and a recast Green Lantern. Finke also hints that the rumored Aquaman appearance will likely be pushed to Justice League

Of course non of us will know for sure until Warner Bros panel on Saturday July 26th in Hall H in San Diego, but for sure this will be one of the most talked about topic overheard throughout the convention floor.

Superhero News: Doctor Strange…who will play the Sorcerer Supreme?

Image

Now that director extraordinaire Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Deliver Us From Evil) has accepted the position as overseer of one of Marvel Studios Phase 3 films (see Mr. Derrickson’s twitter announcement ) , the focus now switches to the debate over who will play Dr. Stephen Strange, the man who would become the Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange.

Deadline is reporting this week that Marvel is narrowing down its list of candidates and two men has emerged as the front runners for the role.

strange-header

As with almost every superhero movie announcement comes the rumor of Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy are candidates for the leading role. But there are a few other men who have been rumored as of late.

Hollywood “It” guy Jared Leto is being considered for the role coming off his Academy Award win and could be a wild card to win the role

Also rumored to be a candidate is Hollywood megastar Johnny Depp is rumored to have met with Marvel several months ago about the role

But who else should be considered as a candidate to play the title role? Let’s take a look at a few candidates I have selected to add to these amazing actors….

Sound off! Who is YOUR choice for Doctor Strange?!

The release date for the film has not been set as of today, but Marvel has several dates held for future films, July 8, 2016 and May 5, 2017. With the announcement of Derrickson and the fast track for a leading actor it is appearing more likely that Doctor Strange will occupy one of these dates.

Superhero News: Marvel Gets Their Yes Man and Ant-Man Gets a Director… and a New Writer!

So It looks like Marvel really is scarping the bottom of the director barrel to find their man…and that man is…

                                                      Peyton Reed

Image

Now while Mr. Reed might be giving the thumbs up, many Marvel fans are not so inclined to endorse this signing. The director of such “gems” as Yes Man, The Break-Up and Bring it On (Did I say scraping the directors barrel?) has been signed to take over after the departure of previous director and fan favorite Edgar Wright.

And what’s this? Director Adam McKay, who was previously rumored as a candidate to direct the film, has been hired to contribute to the existing script by Edgar Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish. Huh?

This story keeps getting weirder by the minute.. I, for one, was looking forward to an Edgar Wright directed Ant-Man but now I’m not so sure. Peyton Reed was attached to direct 2002’s Fox debacle Fantastic Four so the man has been wanting to take on a superhero franchise but is he the right man for the job? His film history says he’s not. And with the addition of Adam McKay, does Marvel anticipate a more comedic film than the source material warrants?

Marvels choice of directors to interview after Wright has been head scratching and the hires of these two men do little to calm down the pitchforks…but I guess we’ll all have to sit back and see what ultimately becomes of the Ant.
